Let the fun begin…

Most Cook Like a Dad Recipes are designed to be simple and easy to make. This recipe takes the cake when it comes to simple and easy so get your family involved and ask them to cook this recipe with you. With only 6 ingredients and 1 hour, this Tater Tot Casserole will even have your pickiest eater singing your praises.

Cooking Steps:

Place your fry pan, (lightly oiled) on medium-hi heat and add the ground beef. You can season your beef in a variety of ways, (Salt & Pepper, Italian Seasoning, Taco Seasoning, etc.) For this dish, I just used a little salt and pepper as I brown the beef. (12 minutes or until meat is evenly cooked). Chunky pieces or mashed into finer pieces of the ground beef is your option, just make sure your beef is thoroughly cooked. Drain excess oil and fat from the ground beef and spread evenly at the bottom of your casserole pan.

Pre-Heat your Oven to 350*

The Secret Ingredient…

Sprinkle one package of dry Onion Soup Mix on the top of the ground beef. Spread evenly. Now here is one of the Cook Like A Dad Tricks: Take the entire Can of Peas, juice and all, and spread over the ground beef and soup mix. Keeping the juice from the can of peas allows just enough moisture and flavor making it the ‘secret ingredient’ for this casserole. Next, take your can of Soup, (Cream of Celery) and spread the entire contents over the peas. Take spoon or spatula to spread the contents of the soup evenly. The soup appears to be thick like paste, but that’s okay.

Cheese and Tots!

Now that you have the beef, dry soup mix, peas, and cream of celery soup arranged in the casserole pan, it’s time for the BIG Cheese! I like a sharp Cheddar Cheese for this dish, but please feel free to substitute your favorite cheese and sprinkle on top of everything. When you are done creating a solid cheese layer, add the tater tots and arrange them across the entire casserole pan. This is the final layer to the world’s best, Cheesy Tater Tot Casserole.

Place Casserole dish in oven and bake at 350* degrees for 50 – 60 minutes or until you see a dark golden brown color on the tater tots. Serve warm.
