Thanksgiving Stuffing Recipe, California Style

California Style Stuffing

What makes this stuffing recipe a little different is because I am using a variety of ingredients that I can find here in Southern California. I like the taste of California Pistachios mixed in with the cranberries and baked pineapple. Give this stuffing recipe a try this Thanksgiving, or make it for an everyday side dish and your family will enjoy!

Ingredients: Makes 8-12 servings

1 ½ Cups Cubed Pineapple

1 ½ cups of Chopped Celery, fine

1 Cup of Chopped Onion, fine

½ Cup of chopped carrot, shredded

½ Cup of Cranberries, dried

½ Cup of Mauna Loa Macadamia Nuts

½ Cup California Pistachios

2 Teaspoons of Thyme & Sage

½ Cup of Chicken Broth

1 Large Round Loaf of King’s Hawaiian Bread

½ Stick of Butter

Equipment: Fry Pan, Casserole Dish, lightly buttered, Toaster Oven, Large Mixing Bowls

Preheat Oven: 350 Degrees

The Perfect Side Dish

What I love about this recipe is the fact that every time I make it for friends; I get different compliments on the recipe. Sometimes it the pineapple, other times it’s the toasted Hawaiian bread. Either way, give this Thanksgiving side dish recipe a try and add something different this holiday.

Cooking Steps: Make Croutons

Take your Hawaiian Bread and cut the bread into slices and then down to medium-sized, “Crouton blocks”. We want the bread blocks to dry out, so place bread blocks onto a pan and toast them in a Toaster oven, setting to give them a good “browning”, not burnt. When all bread is toasted, set them aside in a large mixing bowl.

Time to Fry…

Take a Fry Pan on Medium heat and place butter into the pan while heating up. Add your Celery, Onions, Carrots and pineapple and cook them together to a nice brown level. Add cranberries into the mix after the other items have browned; we do not want burnt cranberries.

Reminder: Pre-Heat Oven to 350 Degrees

Mixology… Time to Add Nuts!

Take your Cooked fruits and veggies and drop them into the large mixing bowl of Hawaiian Bread Croutons. Add your herbs, (Thyme and Sage) and add the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nuts and the California Pistachios in the large mixing bowl and gently mix the stuffing together. Add a cup of warm Chicken broth while mixing the bowl of ingredients. Now that you have a damp mixture of all the ingredients, Lightly butter a casserole pan and pour the entire stuffing mix into the dish and place in the oven for 15 minutes, “uncovered” and place a lid over the stuffing the remaining 15 minutes. Total baking time: 30 Minutes.
