Quick and Easy Snack Idea: Bagel, Tomato and Mozzarella

Quick Lunch Idea: Bagel, Tomato and Mozzarella

I really don’t know whether to call this a lunch, snack or a breakfast sandwich because I watch my girlfriend make it any time of the day. This Bagel idea has become a great hit at my home and I thought I would share it with you to see what you think.

Ingredients: Feeds as many as you want

(1) Package of “Everything” Bagels

(1) Large Tomato, Firm and crisp

Fresh Basil Leaves (You can find them in the Produce/Fresh Herb Section)

(1) Package of Mozzarella Cheese

1- Tablespoon of Italian Seasoning & Red Pepper Flakes

*Optional Item, Cream Cheese

Method to Her Madness

So this crazy Southern girlfriend of mine that I adore so much has this craving for a Bagel. Not just any Bagel, but an “everything bagel”. Being Latino, I have similar cravings for fresh tortilla’s but never really had cravings for bagels. Well, I must admit, she has created a Bagel snack that is a hit with my family, (and I actually like it too!). Give it a try and tell me what you think.

To prep this sandwich recipe, you need to slice your tomatoes and cheese thin and have your Basil herb cleaned and removed from stems. Take you Bagel, slice it and lightly toast it.

Once you remove the Bagel from the toaster, I like to take a thin layer of Cream Cheese on top of the Bagel, Add a layer of Basil, then place a layer of Tomato and cover the Tomato with a layer of Mozzarella. Place this in a Toaster Oven and allow the Bagel and Cheese to get to the point of melting together. Sprinkle some seasoning and Red Pepper Flakes and you are done.

Dipping Sauce:

My girlfriend and the rest of my crew love to have a little dipping sauce with this Bagel sandwich. The popular dipping sauce is “Sweet & Spicy” French dressing. Along with a couple Peppercini’s, this sandwich has become a weekly sandwich staple. I hope you enjoy this easy sandwich recipe.
