Product Review: FlapJacked Protein Pancake Mix

Product Review: FlapJacked Pancake Mix

One of my food blogger colleagues and dear friend brought to my attention a new product to review called, FlapJacked Pancake Mix. What could be easier for a Dad Cooking Blogger like me to review pancakes since Saturday morning and pancakes go hand in hand around my house…

Back Story

The “back story” behind FlapJacked comes from the founders, Jennifer and Dave Bacon. Like most families on the weekend, the Bacon’s would have their weekend mornings filled with not-so healthy options like pancakes, syrup, bacon and an assortment of other breakfast foods that would often lead to the after meal “sugar crash”. What also made healthy family diet choices challenging was their 10-year old son named Jace. It was a daily project to get Jace, who has Autism, to eat anything other than processed foods.

Can you relate?

I can.

CookLikeADad Review

I put my teens to the test and made FlapJacked pancakes this past weekend and DID NOT tell my teens that it was anything different than what they normally get on a Saturday. My results were positive. Both daughters jumped right in and finished their plates. After we cleaned up the kitchen, I gave an impromptu interview / survey and it went something like this:

CookLikeADad – “Did the pancakes taste any different today?”

Daughter- “Actually, they were a little more “fluffy” than usual.”

CookLikeADad– “Is Fluffy” a good thing?”

Daughter– “Yes Dad, Fluffy pancakes taste better than FLAT pancakes…”

CookLikeADad- “So, If I told you that you ate healthy pancakes today, would you eat them again?”

Daughter– “As long as you tell me after I eat them Daddy…”

Enough said..

Summary

Breakfast around my house on Saturdays is my time to be with my family. I want to make smart cooking choices for my family and if I can incorporate FlapJacked pancakes knowing that my pancakes are “fluffy” and packed with protein and no artificial ingredients; I know I am doing something good for my family.

The batter was easy to prepare and the best compliment I can pay a company is to say that my two daughters, (who are picky eaters) could not tell the difference; then you know you have a good product.
